Join us online for a Sunday morning worship service on June 14 at 11:00 a.m. The service will include prayers, scripture reading, organ music, hymns, and a sermon from guest preacher Dr. Ellen Davis, the Amos Ragan Kearns Distinguished Professor of Bible and Practical Theology at Duke Divinity School.

This Sunday is the second week in our summer study of the book of Psalms. Throughout our summer preaching series on the Psalms, we will also explore the many ways Psalms can be presented musically. Today, we experience Psalm 23 in two musical forms: a metrical hymn setting (My Shepherd, You Supply My Need by Isaac Watts) and a responsive reading (in a new translation by Dr. Ellen Davis). Although a responsive reading lacks melody and harmony, it is still musical, incorporating a call-and-response pattern and creating a rhythmic corporate voice. Our hymns this week also reflect musically on the themes of Psalm 23, connecting Jesus as the Shepherd who leads and saves his people.

Please note: The Chapel is closed to visitors and all in-person services, concerts, and other events remain canceled until further notice. We continue to pray regularly for Duke, Durham, the nation, and the world, and offer online resources for prayer and livestreams of services. We invite you to engage online with us and read about how we are approaching worship.
