Title Text:
Dean Powery preaching at Duke Chapel
The worship service this Sunday, August 20, at 11:00 a.m. will include five pieces by the English composer William Byrd, marking the recent 400th anniversary of his death. Living and writing during a period of intense religious turbulence, and social and political uncertainty, Byrd’s sacred music represents a pinnacle of personal devotion and craftsmanship. (See also the Evensong service with Byrd's music.) The Chapel's conductor-in-residence Dr. Philip Cave will conduct the music, and Chapel Dean Luke Powery will deliver the sermon.
