Cynthia Hale and Miriam Cho
The Rev. Dr. Cynthia Hale talks with Miriam Cho
In 1996, the Rev. Dr. Cynthia Hale preached at Duke Chapel about perseverance in Christian faith from the often quoted Romans 8:28, "And we know that ..." Twenty-five years later, in an interview for the Living Tradition preaching resource, she reflects on her message of Christian freedom in a world still rife with oppression.
A Duke Divinity School alumna and senior pastor of the Ray of Hope Christian Church in Decatur, Georgia, Dr. Hale also talks in the interview about what it meant for her to bring her "whole self" as an African American woman to the Chapel pulpit.
