Singers and musicians with the Chorworks early music summer program present this concert of Music for Court, Church, and Theater. Free admission. Paid parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis in the Bryan Center Parking Garage at 125 Science Drive; ADA parking is available in the surface lot at the same address. In association with Duke Chapel Music, the Chorworks summer program brings early-career musicians from across the country to study and perform early music at Duke Chapel. Led by the Chapel's conductor-in-residence, Dr. Philip Cave, distinguished faculty perform and offer in-depth study of music and its context. This year's theme is "Henry Purcell (1659-95): England's Orpheus." One of England's greatest composers, Henry Purcell composed music for church, court and theatre. His musical voice is unique: a blend of French joie-de-vivre, Italian drama, and England's long choral tradition.
