Professor Lester Ruth

In a new post on the Living Tradition preaching resource, Duke Divinity School Professor Lester Ruth commends a sermon preached on the Feast of Transfiguration in 1989 in Duke Chapel by the Rev. Dr. William Willimon, who was then dean of the Chapel.

"That feast along with other days like the Baptism of Christ, the Ascension, Maundy Thursday, and Pentecost are often overlooked or handled poorly by preachers notwithstanding how important the events were in the economy of salvation seen in Jesus' life and ministry," Professor Ruth says. "Thus I applaud this collection containing multiple sermons on each of these 'lesser' feast days."
