Concert This Sunday: Instrumental Concertos by J.S. Bach

This program features three of J.S. Bach's violin concertos, including the "Double Concerto" for two violins and orchestra. The Chapel's conductor-in-residence, Dr. Philip Cave, directs the performance by the musicians of Mallarmé Music. The concert is the closing event in the 2023 North Carolina HIP Music Festival. The pieces to be performed are:

  • Violin Concerto in A minor, BWV 104
  • Violin Concerto in E major, BWV 1042
  • Concerto for Two Violins in D minor, BWV 1043

Admission is free. Paid parking is available on a first-come-first-served basis in the Bryan Center Garage at 125 Science Drive. ADA parking is available in surface lot at the same address.

Before the concert at 4:00 p.m. in the Divinity School's Goodson Chapel, Chad Fothergill, the Chapel's interim organist, will give a talk on "Bach's Concertos: It's a Southern Thing."

Families with young children are invited to come to an open rehearsal the day before the concert (Saturday, March 4) between 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. in Duke Chapel.
