Bach Cantata Series: 'One of the Most Remarkable Musical Treasures'

A review of the Chapel's recent Bach Cantata concert calls the series "one of the most remarkable musical treasures of the Triangle.

"It combines outstanding soloists and HIP (Historically Informed Performance) musicians, all with free admission and programs with full texts, translations, scholarly notes, and biographies," wrote a reviewer for the website Classical Voice of North Carolina.

This year's series focuses on themes of salvation and redemption. It includes cantatas by Johann Sebastian and Johann Christoph Bach, George Frideric Handel, Michael Praetorius, and Mikolaj Zielenski. Soloists include Andrea Edith Moore, Molly Quinn, Tamsin Simmill, Daniel Shirley, Tony Boutteé, James Reese, and David Newman. Duke Bach Ensemble and Mallarmé Chamber Players are directed by Dr. Philip Cave.
