Alternative Spring Break Service Trip
This Spring Break, the Chapel and several Religious Life groups will be taking a group of students and community members to Western North Carolina to help with the recovery efforts after the devastation of Hurricane Helene. The trip will leave Sunday afternoon (March 9) and return Thursday (March 13). The majority of the cost for the trip will be covered by Duke Chapel. If you are interested in participating, please reach out by February 14 to Assistant Dean Bruce Puckett.
Religious Life Mission trip funding
As designee of the Chapel dean, the Religious Life Staff Mission Funding Committee is responsible for reviewing applications for religious life mission funds.
Past Mission Trips
At the remote Monastery of Christ in the Desert in New Mexico, you'll have space and time for prayer, reflection, contemplation, and rest. The trip will run from March 10 through 15, 2024.
Usually a ten-day round-trip, it consists of participating in a build project at a partner Christian organization in Costa Rica with ties to Durham and Duke University. Enrolling in a house course is required to participate in this trip (please email Bruce directly with questions about enrollment) and it focuses on group engagement and cultural participation in the local Costa Rican culture.
