Chapel Musicians Nominated for Grammy Awards
Congratulations to Chapel Organist Christopher Jacobson and Professor Brian Schmidt, the Chapel’s former assistant conductor in Chapel Music, for being nominated for multiple Grammy Awards! Their work on the album Tyberg: Masses, sung by the South Dakota Chorale, has been nominated this year for Best Choral Performance. Schmidt, now an associate professor of choral music at Baylor University, is the artistic director and conductor of the South Dakota Chorale; Jacobson is the organist on the album, which was recorded at First-Plymouth Congregational Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. The album is also nominated for Grammy Awards in two other categories, Best Engineered Album, Classical and Best Surround Sound Album, and is also associated with a nomination in the category for Producer Of The Year, Classical.
