Sunday Service with Michael Battle Preaching
In this Sunday’s 11:00 a.m. worship service (July 21), we will welcome as our guest preacher the Very Rev. Dr. Michael Battle, an internationally recognized speaker, teacher, writer, and spiritual leader. A double-Duke graduate, Rev. Dr. Battle was ordained a priest by Archbishop Desmond Tutu in 1993 and now leads the Peace Battle Institute addressing diversity, spirituality, prayer, race, and reconciliation. In 2010, he was given one of the highest Anglican Church distinctions as “Six Preacher,” by the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams.
The Bell Durham ensemble will offer music at service, including handbell arrangements of hymn tunes. Founded in 2023 as Durham’s first community handbell ensemble, the group aims to provide high-caliber music at local events and venues and to promote the art of handbells in Durham and beyond.
