Spring Oratorio Concert Presents 'Music for Troubled Times'
Loading...
For centuries, composers and poets have marshaled their art forms to respond to personal and collective anxiety. The Chapel's Spring Oratorio concert on Sunday, April 23, at 4:00 p.m. will present four such works, spanning the late eighteenth century to the dawn of the twentieth. For the program, the Chapel’s choirs join forces with Mallarmé Music to perform choral music that points beyond our daily troubles to the hope of resurrection and new life. The pieces are:
- Franz Joseph Haydn’s Missa in angustiis (“Lord Nelson” Mass)
- Edward Elgar’s Elegy for Strings
- Felix Mendelssohn’s Hear My Prayer
- Philip Bliss’s It Is Well with My Soul
