Sounds of Faith: I was glad by Leo Sowerby

In this “Sounds of Faith” video, Chapel Organist Christopher Jacobson, FRCO, offers insights into the anthem “I was glad” by the American composer Leo Sowerby. The anthem was sung by the Duke Evensong Singers in the Chapel’s Choral Evensong worship service on February 2, 2020.

“Sowerby’s anthem befits this Easter season with its exultant exclamations of praise,” Jacobson explains, “while also reflecting on common desires of peace and prosperity through more calm and introspective musical textures.”
