Reading, Studying, Praying the Psalms This Summer
Loading...
This summer we are reading the Psalms as our primary scripture lessons in our Sunday morning worship services, and we invite you to read the Book of Psalms with us throughout your week. Reading through the book together will allow our community to learn from scripture passages that we do not regularly encounter through the lectionary in our worship services and will open us to hear from a broader range of the scriptural canon; this approach is called lectio continua.
Here is how you can participate this week (July 26–August 2):
- Read Psalms 119–125.
- Listen back to Rev. Kathryn Lester-Bacon's sermon based on Psalm 104.
- Participate in an online Bible study on the Psalms this Sunday, August 2, at 9:45 a.m., which Dr. Brian Stratton, Philosophy professor at UNC-Pembroke, will lead on Psalm 80 and the people of God.
- Join us online for our Sunday morning worship service on August 2 at 11:00 a.m., which will include prayers adapted from Psalms 36 and 62 and a musical setting of Psalm 124.
We hope you will join us through the summer as we read, study, and learn from the Psalms.
