Duke Chapel Choir Wins Top Place in National Competition

The Duke University Chapel Choir was selected for a third-place award in The American Prize for Choral Performance (Community Division).

The American Prize is designed to recognize and reward the best-performing artists, directors, ensembles, and composers in the United States at professional, university, community, and high school levels. The Duke Chapel Choir entered the national competition for the first time this year and was the only church or chapel choir selected for a top place in their division.

Founded in 1932, the Chapel Choir is the oldest established music ensemble at Duke University. The choir leads the music in worship services at Duke Chapel on Sunday mornings, during Holy Week, and at other times during the academic year, singing anthems, hymns, psalms, and liturgical music. They have toured extensively throughout the United States, the United Kingdom, China, Ireland, Turkey, and continental Europe.
