Duke University Chapel Seeks a Director of Chapel Music

The Director of Chapel Music provides artistic and administrative leadership for a dynamic and culturally diverse program comprising staff choral singers, instrumentalists, volunteer singers, students, and professional colleagues. This person works closely with the Dean of the Chapel and other Chapel staff to lead the Duke Chapel Choir in worship and to develop innovative musical offerings in this vibrant University community.

About Music at Duke Chapel
Music at Duke University Chapel aims to create high quality musical experiences, while giving glory to God and stirring the hearts and minds of all those it reaches. Working in sacred music traditions, Duke Chapel Music comprises three choirs, seven staff members, two organ scholars, four organs, and a 50-bell carillon, in addition to partnerships with many professional musicians, student music groups, and guest choirs.

Co-Chairs
Dr. Zoila Airall – Associate Vice President of Student Affairs for Campus Life, Duke University
Zoila Airall is beginning her 16th year at Duke and is currently the Associate Vice President for Campus Life in Student Affairs which includes serving as the Student Affairs liaison to Duke Religious Life Chaplain staff. Dr. Airall also had the pleasure of serving on both search committees for the current Dean of the Chapel and his predecessor. Working as a church organist and choir director from 1976-2008 has been her avocation.
Dr. Walker Robinson – Pediatrician, Chapel Hill Pediatrics and Adolescents
Walker Robinson is a four-time Dukie, with an undergraduate degree in history, a Masters of Arts in Teaching, an MD, and residency training in Pediatrics, all at Duke. He is also a long-standing member of the Chapel Choir (off and on since 1996), the Evensong Choir, and a member of the Congregation at Duke Chapel for more than a decade. Additionally, he serves on the Duke Chapel Advisory Board. He has unwavering support for Duke Chapel's strong history of sacred music, and looks forward to helping to build an equally strong Chapel Music program in the future.
