Join us April 4–12 as we move through the passion, death, and resurrection of Christ with worship services and concerts during Holy Week and Easter. All services and events are in Duke Chapel unless otherwise noted. Many of the services are livestreamed. Click the link for each service or event for details.

Saturday, April 4

6:00 p.m. — Pre-concert Lecture for Multivalence: The Mass and its Music | in Goodson Chapel in Duke Divinity School

7:30 p.m. — Multivalence: The Mass and its Music | purchase tickets
This concert explores the diverse music of the Mass across ten centuries and five continents

Palm Sunday, April 5

11:00 a.m. — Palm Sunday Worship Service
This service begins with a procession of the palms to recall the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem

4:00 p.m. — Palm Sunday Choral Evensong

Holy Monday, April 6

12 noon — Holy Week Noon Service
The Holy Week noon services include scripture reading, prayer, and a sermon

Holy Tuesday, April 7

12 noon — Holy Week Noon Service

Holy Wednesday, April 8

12 noon — Holy Week Noon Service

Maundy Thursday, April 9

12 noon — Holy Week Noon Service

7:00 p.m. — Maundy Thursday Service
This service includes communion, stripping the altar, and footwashing

Good Friday, April 10

11:30 a.m. — Procession of the Stations of the Cross| on the Chapel Quad
A reflection on Christ's last days with banners and stylized reenactments on the Chapel Quad

12 noon — Good Friday Service
This is a simple, sparse service of scripture and reflective music recalling the crucifixion and death of Jesus

1:00 p.m. — Meditative Organ Music

7:30 p.m. — Good Friday Tenebrae
This service includes a progressive dimming of the lights within the Chapel until the congregation sits in darkness to remember Jesus’s death

Holy Saturday, April 11

4:00 p.m. — Music for Holy Saturday | in Goodson Chapel in Duke Divinity School
A performance of the Stabat Mater by the Duke Bach Ensemble

Easter Day, April 12

Easter Sunday is the principal feast of the liturgical year—the day Christians celebrate Jesus’s resurrection from the dead on the third day after his crucifixion

6:30 a.m. — Easter Sunrise Service | in Duke Gardens

9:00 a.m. — Easter Worship Service

11:00 a.m. — Easter Worship Service

4:00 p.m. — Easter Choral Evensong
