Navaratri
Location: Duke Chapel

Navaratri is a nine-day Hindu festival, honoring the Goddess forms of the Divine: the Goddess of Power, the Goddess of Wealth, and the Goddess of Knowledge. The festival culminates with this celebration of Vijaya Dasami, a day of victory and celebration of good over evil, light over darkness, wisdom over ignorance. Navaratri is celebrated in unique ways throughout India, often with pujas (sacred rituals), decorations, dancing, music, and feasts. For many, Navaratri also represents an annual homecoming event celebrating the reverential bonds between elders and youngsters, family and community members.

The Duke Hindu Students Association is excited to celebrate this auspicious festival, which coincides with Family Weekend, together with our families and close relations. This event is open to all Duke community members, regardless of faith, and all are invited to observe the beautiful traditions of Hindu worship and understand the significance of this sacred festival.
