The Holy Week noon services include scripture reading, prayer, and a sermon. The guest preacher for this service is Dr. Angel Collie, director of the Center for Sexual and Gender Diversity (CSGD) at Duke University. Dr. Collie grew up in rural North Carolina and, before joining the team as the associate director of the CSGD, served as the assistant director of the LGBTQ Center at UNC-CH. He returned to UNC (where he received his bachelor of arts in religious studies with minors in both women's studies and sexuality studies) for the assistant director position after obtaining a master of divinity from Yale Divinity School. Dr. Collie recently graduated with a doctor of ministry from Duke Divinity School, where he focused on providing spiritual care within trans communities. In addition to his professional and academic work, Dr. Collie serves on the Center for LGBTQ and Gender Studies Transgender Roundtable, as the secretary for The Freedom Center for Social Justice board, and as co-faculty for the Transgender Seminarian Leadership Cohort.
