Choral Evensong (Final Evensong of the Semester)
Location: Duke Chapel

A special Ascension Day Evensong beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 6 celebrates Christ's ascension into heaven following his Resurrection. This service of music and scripture will include Herbert Howells' St. Paul's Service, and Patrick Gowers' epic anthem Viri Galilei accompanied by two organists, soloists and double choir depicting fiery chariots carrying Jesus up into the clouds of heaven. Choral Evensong is a centuries-old tradition that continues to be prayed every day all over the world. Drawn from the 17th century, worshippers are invited to enter into a sacred space of reflection through music, scripture, and prayers that have shaped Christian lives for hundreds of years. All are welcome! ** Note: Incense will be used at this service. ** Please also note that services occur only during the academic semester. This service will be the final service of the academic year.
