Duke University Chapel Choir will perform Giuseppe Verdi’s monumental Requiem, together with the Duke Chorale, the Choral Society of Durham’s Chamber Choir, a large professional orchestra, and professional soloists. Because Verdi used his typical Romantic Italian operatic style in setting the text of the traditional Requiem Mass, this piece has been described as a “stunning intersection of the sacred and secular.”
