Fifty days after Easter, the church celebrates the festival of Pentecost. Echoing the ancient Jewish festival of Shavuot, which remembers God’s giving of the law on Mount Sinai, Pentecost celebrates God’s giving of the Holy Spirit. In this Sunday's Pentecost service at 11:00 a.m., Chapel Dean Luke A. Powery will preach and ministers will perform two baptisms. And, all are invited to linger after the service for refreshments and fellowship on the Chapel lawn.

The music will be led by the Choristers from Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Columbia, South Carolina. The choir maintains a busy schedule of service to the church through leadership in music and liturgy. Children attend a variety of local schools and receive an advanced education in music theory and sight-reading, as well as individual voice lessons. The choirs sing weekly for Cathedral services, and also participate in regular concerts, recordings, and tours. The choristers have sung in recent years at Canterbury Cathedral, Wells Cathedral, St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, the Sistine Chapel, Saint Thomas Church, Fifth Avenue, and Washington National Cathedral. The choir is open to all children.

Parking is available in the Bryan Center garage at 125 Science Drive. ADA parking is available in the Bryan Center Surface Lot at the same address. Receive a pass for free parking on Sunday mornings at the visitor desk inside the Chapel.

Masking in Duke Chapel is optional for those who are fully vaccinated. If you have not been vaccinated, Duke requires that you wear a mask in all Duke facilities.
