[Online] Choral Vespers Rebroadcast

Today’s re-broadcast is of a Vespers service from January 10, 2019, during the season of Epiphany. It allows us to enjoy again the sounds and imagery of the coming of Christ’s light in the world. The service begins with a Lullaby by the 16th-century English composer Martin Peerson, and continues with Robert Lehman’s exultant setting of the words “Arise, shine, for your light is come.” We hear anthems by two 20th-century composers, Herbert Howells’ intimate setting of Frances Chesterton’s poem “Here is the little door,” and Peter Warlock’s carol “Bethlehem Down.”
