Jazz Vespers: A Service of Thanksgiving

For twelve years, Jazz Vespers has been an integral part of the musical life of Duke Chapel. Sing, rest, pray, and celebrate in these worship services combining the ancient Christian tradition of evening vespers services with the aural idioms of Black sacred music, including jazz, gospel, and spirituals.

Jazz Vespers is musically led by John V. Brown, Professor of the Practice of Music at Duke University, and the John Brown "Little Big Band."
