Homegoing Celebration for Dr. William C. Turner, PhD

A memorial service honoring Dr. William C. Turner Jr.

Parking is available at the Bryan Center Garage at 125 Science Dr. Parking will be free, and attendants will be on-site to assist guests, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The adjacent Bryan Center Surface Lot is reserved for ADA parking and reserved guests from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Parking in this lot will also be free.

There is a viewing for Dr. Turner on Friday, August 7, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. in Duke Chapel.

William Clair Turner Jr., James T. and Alice Mead Cleland Professor Emeritus of the Practice of Preaching at Duke Divinity School, died on July 26 at the age of 78. Turner was a pastor, preacher, and educator whose decades of service shaped Duke Divinity School, strengthened ties between Duke University and the Durham community, expanded the study and witness of the Black church, and advanced campus civil rights.
