A Concert of Choral and Instrumental Music by Herbert Howells

Duke Chapel's Evensong Singers present this concert comprising music by Herbert Howells, whose music occupies a significant place in Anglican church music. Howells cultivated an entirely individual voice in his choral and organ music as a student of prominent musicians, such as Charles Villiers Stanford, Hubert Parry, Charles Wood, and Walford Davies. This performance features Howells' "Requiem"--regarded by many as one of the greatest choral works of the twentieth century--together with anthems, carols, and organ music. The concert concludes with Howells' stirring setting of the "Te Deum" composed for the choir of King's College, Cambridge.
