Choral Evensong Worship Service

Speaker

Evensong Singers

Choral Evensong is a historic liturgy derived from Vespers and Compline, ancient monastic prayer services of the Christian church. Evensong at Duke Chapel follows the Book of Common Prayer, and features stirring choral and organ music of the English cathedral tradition, led by the Chapel's Evensong Singers. This final Evensong of the semester has music for the Advent season, including Otto Goldschmidt’s "A tender shoot," Responses by Gabriel Jackson, Herbert Howell’s "Evening Canticles in G," and Anthony Piccolo’s setting of the Advent Responsory "I look from afar."

Parking is available on a first-come-first-served basis in the Bryan Center garage at 125 Science Drive. ADA parking is available in the Bryan Center Surface Lot at the same address. For more parking options, visit chapel.duke.edu/visit-events/visit#parking.

Duke University recommends that anyone experiencing cold-like respiratory symptoms, even after a negative COVID test, continue to wear a mask indoors until symptoms resolve. Unvaccinated individuals, who are at increased risk for severe illness, are encouraged but will no longer be required to wear masks indoors.

The service is livestreamed on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/dukechapel and broadcast live on channel 12 of the Duke Hospital TV system and channel 110 of the Duke Campus Vision TV system.
