Breakfast Reception: An Invitation for Black Alumni to Share Their Stories [RSVP Required]

Speaker

The Rev. Dr. Keith Daniel

Duke Chapel is hosting a breakfast for alumni who would like to learn about, and participate in, the "Counting It All Joy!" project that is collecting oral histories of Black alumni from four universities in North and South Carolina.

Led by Duke alumnus Rev. Dr. Keith Daniel, "Counting It All Joy!" aims to better understand, and to make more visible, the narratives of Black people who have attended one of these schools-Davidson College, Duke University, Furman University and Johnson C. Smith University-between 1990 and 2020. The research team is especially interested in speaking with Black alumni with generational familial connections to one or more of the four schools. Participants in the project will be interviewed, and potentially photographed, for a publication that will set the stories of Black alumni in the context of the schools' institutional histories.

This breakfast will include an opportunity for participants to have have a portrait photo taken for potential inclusion in the project publication.
