Dr. Brian SchmidtThis week Dr. Brian Schmidt, the Chapel’s assistant conductor, will lead a performance by the South Dakota Chorale at the American Choral Directors Association's 2015 national conference in Salt Lake City, Utah. The chorale, founded by Schmidt, is one of only three community/professional groups to perform at the conference. One of the singers in the chorale is Michael Lyle, staff assistant for Chapel Music.

In addition to performing at the conference, the chorale will also be unveiling its new album “Sacred Songs of Life and Love.” The new CD with the Pentatone Classics label features contemporary Scandinavian and Baltic choral music. It was recorded by the production company Soundmirror at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

While at the conference, Schmidt will also serve as a host to a delegation of Swedish choral conductors, as part of an international fellowship he was awarded in October.
