Weekly Services The Sunday 11 a.m. service is the primary worship service at Duke Chapel each week but there are a number of smaller, more intimate weekly services throughout the course of the academic year. Tuesday Prayer and Communion The Chapel offers a 30-minute service of Holy Communion, prayers for the church and the world, and the opportunity to receive prayers for healing and anointing with oil in the Memorial Chapel on Tuesday evenings at 5:15 p.m. Midweek Prayer All are welcome to an informal service of midweek prayer held in the Memorial Chapel each Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. noon. The 20-minute service is led by Chapel staff and includes scripture and prayer. Thursday Choral Vespers Choral Vespers is held on Thursday evenings at 5:15 p.m. This 30-40 minute candlelight service led by the Vespers Ensemble, consists of scripture readings, prayers, and sacred music. Each service is archived on the chapel website. Monthly Choral Evensong The service of Choral Evensong lasts approximately one hour, and derives from the medieval church, offered at Duke Chapel in classical form from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England, which sought to harmonize Catholic and Protestant traditions. Read more about Evensong at Duke Chapel or view the order of service. Additionally, the Chapel is used by different Religious Life groups for a variety of services outside the weekly offerings, such as Catholic Mass on Sundays at 9:00 p.m.
