Chapel ScholarsDuke Chapel PathWays provides opportunities for students to hear and respond to God’s call for their lives on campus, in Durham, and beyond, through study, counsel, service, and community. Among the many students who connect with PathWays each year, a select group of Chapel Scholars displays a unique commitment to discerning how to connect their talents and passions to the world’s deepest needs.

Scholars come from a variety of majors, backgrounds, and denominational affiliations, but they share a common desire to discern God's call for their lives. They form the backbone of PathWays programming by participating widely in courses, discernment groups, mission trips, summer internships, and community service.

Chapel Scholars are eligible for:

  • annual grants of up to $500 to attend mission trips, service projects, conferences, and retreats
  • preference for PathWays Summer Internship and Fellowship programs
  • opportunities to live in the PathWays house as scholars-in-residence through the academic year
  • invitations to special events, dinners, and programs
Any current Duke undergraduate student can apply to become a Chapel Scholar. Applications are accepted each October. To be considered for this year's class of Chapel Scholars, please complete the application below no later than Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
